This NEMA 17 stepper motor with 3:1 planetary gearbox is designed for applications requiring light speed reduction while maintaining fast response and smooth motion.
This model integrates a high-precision 0.9° NEMA 17 stepper motor with a
planetary gearbox 3:1 reduction ratio. It offers minimal speed reduction
while improving torque output and motion stability.
The short-shaft motor platform is based on our ultra-thin design.

A 3:1 planetary gear ratio is ideal when only slight speed reduction is needed,
while improving torque transmission and reducing vibration in dynamic motion systems.

Backlash is an important factor to consider when selecting a planetary gearbox for your application.
It refers to the play between the gear teeth that occurs when direction is reversed.
The amount of backlash can impact the precision and repeatability of your system.
In general, a higher gear ratio, such as 50:1, tends to introduce more backlash,
which may be acceptable for low-precision applications. However, for high-precision tasks like CNC machines or robotics,
a lower gear ratio such as 3:1 or 5:1 with minimal backlash is preferred to ensure accurate motion control.
It’s crucial to assess the backlash tolerance in your system and choose the appropriate gearbox ratio.
Lower backlash is generally preferred for applications requiring high accuracy and repeatability.

Selecting the correct planetary gear ratio depends on load torque, speed requirements, and positioning accuracy.
For applications requiring higher torque than a 3:1 planetary gearbox,a 5:1 planetary gearbox may be a better option.
